Name: Joel Sawyer Wrestler Details: Vital Statistics: Wrestler Name: The Working Man J. A. Sawyer Date Of Birth: Height: 5' 9" Weight: 270 lbs Alignment: Classic Face Wrestling Style: Sawyer uses an older style of wrestling and is an all around wrestler. He isn't a master of any particular style: He goes to the top rope but can't do the acrobatic stuff, he uses his weight for power moves but certainly can't do moves that require height or great upper body strength. He can go from style to style without a beat. His style is most like that of Arn Anderson or Dusty Rhodes in the 1980's.
Division: Single, Heavyweight. Theme Music: Blue Collar Man by Styx Home Town: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Story: J. A. Sawyer went into the military after High School and, while he learned quite a bit, he only stayed for two years. He worked in factories to get by after. A big fan of pro-wrestling, Sawyer signed up and began training. Many folks, even promotors, told him he wouldn't make it, that a short, fat wrestler could no longer make a real living, but Sawyer was having too much fun and would have been content as a small timer. However, though a combination of skill, charisma, and the drive to do his absolute best when in front of the audience, Sawyer found himself doing more and more shows throughout Michigan, then in neighboring states. In 2008 he joined two separate National promotions and has been on TV almost every week for most of the year and has worked matches in Japan, proving his detractors wrong. Accomplishments: WCW: Tag Team, US, and World Titles CZW Tag Team Title EWF Internet Title
Appearance: Like a throwback character in 80's WWF, Sawyer wears a factory uniform complete with dark blue straight leg pants, a lighter blue button down shirt with a patch that reads 'Sawyer' over the left breast pocket, work boots, and he wears a hard hat to the ring. Generally he won't use the helmet against an opponent unless the opponent has already broken the rules in a match and has already used a foreign object. At 5' 9", he is average height for indie wrestlers but somewhat short for big stars, and though he isn't just terribly obese, he does carry extra weight around his middle and thighs. His chest is wide and his arms are strong.
Gimmick/Personality: Blue Collar working man and generally a good guy like in the 80's. If he is in a feud, he tends to play practical jokes on his opponents: In a recent Money in the Bank match, he threw in two extra briefcases to cause chaos! Otherwise, he is serious about his career and the way he presents himself.
Background: Military and a little karate, but mostly just his wrestling training.
Associates: Former tag team partner 'The Janitor' Billy Williams
Move Set: Finisher Name: The Wrecking Ball Finisher Description: Top Rope Splash. Finisher 2: The Staple Gun Finisher 2 Description: Flying Fist drop from 2nd rope to opponent prone or on hands and knees Signature 1: Head butts Signature Description 1: Standing, falling (like Bam Bam), Top Rope. he likes his head butts. Signature 2: Extended Full Nelson Signature Description 2: Applies Full Nelson, falls onto back with opponent on top, wraps legs around opponent's legs, then arcs back to stretch opponent even while applying the arm strength of a normal Full Nelson. Generally not useable on tall opponents. Signature 3: Blue Collar Dropper: Signature Description 3: Fireman's Carry pickup into a snap forward powerslam. Great set-up for Wrecking Ball
Basic Moves:
Spinebuster Piledriver Flying shoulderblock Elbow Drop Leg drop Big splash Boston Crab Tongan Death Grip (uses weight, leans into move) Falling clothesline Vader Bomb
